The foremost reason for this situation is a disease called osteoarthrosis (also known as osteoarthritis). The disease becomes more widespread as age advances, and can be expressed in a joint, damaged since birth, as a result of trauma to the joint, a rheumatic disease or necrosis of the femoral head.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img src=\"https:\/\/www.bar-ziv.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/hip02.jpg\" alt=\"\u05e9\u05d7\u05d9\u05e7\u05ea \u05e1\u05d7\u05d5\u05e1\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05de\u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05d4\u05d9\u05e8\u05da\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>What could be the reasons for surgery?<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Worsening of pain<\/li>\n<li>Unbearable pain<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty in walking and climbing stairs<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty in everyday activity, and <b>deterioration of the quality of life<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>What is the surgical approach to the joint?<\/h5>\n<p>The direct anterior approach (DAA) is a new approach, which speeds up the recuperation, and saves the patient many restrictions after the surgery, which would be the case in surgery with a more traditional approach.<\/p>\n<p>The principal difference between the traditional approaches to hip replacement surgery, and the new anterior approach, is that with the anterior approach there is no need to detach the muscles around the hip joint, in order to replace it.<\/p>\n<p>The new surgical method causes less trauma to the body. The muscular cover surrounding the hip joint is maintained, and so, after the implanting of the artificial joint, we receive a more stable joint than with more traditional approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the fact that the surgery takes place while the patient is lying on his back, allows the surgical team, throughout the whole surgery, to assess the length of the legs, and so, significantly decrease the need to raise the shorter lag.<\/p>\n<h5>The location and length of the surgical incision<\/h5>\n<p>With the patient lying in a supine position (on his back), an incision is made 8 \u2013 12 cm long in the front part of the hip.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img src=\"https:\/\/www.bar-ziv.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/hip03.jpg\" alt=\"\u05d4\u05d7\u05dc\u05e4\u05ea \u05de\u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05d4\u05d9\u05e8\u05da\" \/><\/p>\n<hr style=\"border-color:#999999;border-width:1px\" \/>\n<h4 style=\"color:#ffffff;font-size:20px\">Advantages of the anterior approach, in relation to other approaches<\/h4>\n<hr style=\"border-color:#fdf8f0;border-width:1px\" \/>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no cutting, or detachment, or splitting of the muscles; less damage to soft tissue.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smaller surgical incision.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Less pain after surgery.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faster process of rehabilitation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is less limping in the period after surgery.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The joint is more stable, and so there is no need for special restrictions, such as a cushion between the legs, sitting on a low chair, elevation of the toilet, travelling home by ambulance, cushion between the legs, etc.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Better control over the length of the legs, so that there is no inequality in the length of the legs at the end of the surgery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr style=\"border-color:#999999;border-width:1px\" \/>\n<h5>Implants<\/h5>\n<p>The structure of the artificial implant greatly reminds one of the natural joint. In most surgery, we shall use implants with no cement (bone cement). The implants that we use are among the best of their type in the world. Made from titanium, they placed into the bone, and become the \u201cgo-between\u201d between the bone and the gliding surface. The outer section of the titanium is built from a layer of tiny pores, which come into close contact with the bone, and so allow the growth of the bone into the implant, and its transformation into an integral part of the bone.<\/p>\n<p>The gliding surfaces are built from a ceramic head instead of a polyethylene polymer.
