Who would be advised to meet him for a consultation?
- If you suffer from pain in the knee or hip region for an extended period of time, and have not been given a solution by the orthopedic surgeon at your HMO.
- If you suffer from restrictions in your daily activities, because of difficulty in movement, and pain in the joints of the leg.
- If you have been recommended for surgery, and you would like an additional opinion.
- If you suffer from a known degenerative disease of the cartilage in the hip or the knee, and you have come to the decision that the time has come to undergo surgery.

Where is the consultation held?
The consultation will take place in Dr. Bar Ziv’s private office.
Area CU, Building B, Floor 1, 3 HaNehoshet Street, Ramat Hahayal, Tel Aviv.
You can also come to a consultation at Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center, with a referral from your HMO, and an appointment at the orthopedic, outpatients’ clinic.
What should you bring to the consultation?
An up to date (no more than six months old) x-ray image of the problematic joint:
- For pain in the pelvic region, you should bring an x-ray of the hips AP, standing, and an x-ray of the hips in an axial position
- For pain in the knee region, to the first meeting, you should bring, an x-ray of the knees AP, standing and lateral, and in addition you should bring an x-ray of the pelvis and the hips AP standing.
Any medical material connected to the problem, and any additional material that could help in completing the picture of your medical condition.
You can ask your family doctor at your HMO for a referral for x-rays.
How is the consultation meeting conducted?
- At the start of the meeting, Dr. Bar Ziv listens to the patient’s description of the medical problem.
- He asks to see the up to date x-ray images of the affected area, and the results of any other tests that there might be.
- Conducts a physical examination of the joints.
- Gives his opinion, verbally and in writing, of the patient’s medical condition.
- Replies to questions
- Gives his recommendations, and refers to further tests, and the continuation of the investigation.
Additional treatments provided by the office include:
- A diagnostic injection of an anesthetic substance into the hip or knee joint, given when there is some doubt as to the source of the pain, or we want to confirm a clinical diagnosis.
- An injection, for the purpose of treatment, of steroids or lubricant, into the hip or knee joint.
